Department of Institutional Effectiveness and Research (IER)
Improving Your Academic Experience
The Department of Institutional Effectiveness and Research serves A&M-Commerce in a variety of capacities to ensure student success and promote strategic planning and continuous data-driven improvement.
Our Vision
To empower the university community to use data and analytics to make evidence-based decisions through the continuous exercise of institutional assessment endeavors. We plan to do this by
- Establishing a culture of data use and curiosity
- Supporting a culture of continuous improvement
- Supporting students, faculty and staff as they “Educate, Discover and Achieve” through the use of data and analytics
Our Mission
To improve the quality of university services and academic programs by providing support to administrative and academic departments in a broad range of activities, including
- Planning and evaluation
- Accreditation
- Institutional research
- Survey design and analysis
- Professional development opportunities
- Submission of institutional data to
- The Texas A&M University System,
- the state of Texas (Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board), and
- federal agencies
- Other special projects

HOW We can help you!
- Provide institutional data.
- Assist in efforts to assess student learning and support services.
- Guide the accreditation processes for colleges, programs and the university.
- Administer and analyze surveys for future action.
- Complete mandatory reporting to the A&M University System Office, the state and federal levels.
- Assist faculty and administrators with the curricular change and program approvals process.
